God’s Report on Your Health

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10:17 KJV

God’s Word is the foundation of our faith. Do you know what God’s Word says concerning your life, and especially your health? Are you hearing what God’s Word says concerning your health? Sadly, many believers have heard what God’s Word says about healing but they aren’t hearing it today. They’ll say something like, “Yes, I have heard that God heals and the Bible says that healing is for today…” and they’ll share testimonies saying “I was healed once…” or “I knew a guy who was healed of something…”. But faith is a present tense reality. We need to be hearing what God’s Word says. It needs to be fresh for us in the here and now.  And this is what God’s Word says concerning your health: “By Jesus’ stripes you were healed!”  (1 Peter 2:24)

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”

2 Peter 1:3 KJV

Faith is based on knowledge. We’ve been given “all things” for life (the practical) and godliness (the spiritual). That includes healing. We’ve been given everything we could need for every situation we could ever face and every task we need to accomplish. But we will only ever experience what is ours in proportion to “the knowledge of Him”. Remember that “faith comes by hearing… the Word” and so what you know is either liberating or imprisoning you. They say that what you don’t know won’t hurt you and ignorance is bliss. But the truth is that what you don’t know will kill you (Hosea 4:6). And we’re not just talking about an intellectual awareness, but rather a heartfelt conviction which leads to action.

Many believers do not realize the power of the Word of God. They don’t realize what they’re missing out on by not studying the Word.

“Forever, O LORD, thy Word is settled in heaven.”

Psalms 119:89 KJV

“The grass withers, the flower fades: but the Word of our God shall stand for ever.”

Isaiah 40:8 KJV

“But the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”

1 Peter 1:25 KJV

What God says, is. What man says, might be. What man says is always subject to change. I know of someone who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer recently. When the doctor checked to see how far the cancer had progressed, it was gone! The woman had received prayer and experienced a miraculous healing! What the doctor had pronounced over her as the final word had changed. You need to stop holding onto the word of man (and your doctor) as if it is eternal and start holding onto God’s Word, which is eternal. It endures and stands forever. God is faithful!

“…let God be true, but every man a liar.”

Romans 3:4 KJV

What God says is always right, no matter what the opposition says. Any word contrary to God’s Word is a lie. So when God’s Word says, “Surely He hath borne our sicknesses and carried our diseases, yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted”, we can know with confidence that our diseases and sickness were laid on Him. This scripture climaxes with the statement “by His stripes we are healed”. God’s Word says it, therefore we know that we are healed. It is an issue of the integrity of the Word. Do you believe what God’s Word says, or does the doctor and your circumstances hold more authority in your heart and mind?

“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Psalms 107:20 KJV

Too few believers recognize the power of God’s Word to heal them. If God says “by Jesus’ stripes you were healed”, then it must be true.

“…I am watching over my word to perform it.”

Jeremiah 1:12 ESV

He said that He carried our sickness and disease. Therefore we do not have to carry any sickness or disease. They cannot be a part of us, because they were already laid on Jesus.

Get into the Word and hear what God is saying to you. Hold fast to God’s Word. Don’t be moved by what people or circumstances tell you.
