Every single one of us wants to be successful. It's wired into us. God created us to be successful and to excel in life. No one likes failing and no one was created to be a dud, either! We weren't created to fail and we weren't created to live mediocre lives; to merely exist and take up space. No one enjoys losing. We all enjoy winning. That's because it’s wired into our hearts. God didn't create some important people with a great destiny and make them “successful” but then create and destine others to a mediocre life like extras in a movie – people in the background to fill space. There are no “filler-in people” – every single person on the face of the planet has a significant and important calling. It might not be a big calling on a platform in view of hundreds or thousands of people, but every single person is important and has a God-given significant role in this life. We all have different functions and whether that function is big or small, every function is important. Most of us haven't thought about our livers today. We don't see our livers and so out of sight, out of mind. But every one of us appreciate our livers. We all have different functions in the body of Christ and in the world – some are very visible roles and others are not, but all are significant. Every single person is important! You might not think much of the garbage removal person (the person who comes and takes your garbage away) but we all appreciate that person! If he misses picking up the garbage for just one week we really miss him and appreciate his function in society. Some people’s roles in life may seem mundane and not all that exciting, but every person has a call to live a life of significance in God’s kingdom!
God never created anyone to be a dud; we are all created with a purpose! God never created you for a mediocre life! Right in the beginning of creation significance was wired into the heart of mankind. Genesis 1: 26-28 says, “then God said let us make man in our image according to our likeness and let them have Dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, of the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them. And God blessed them and God said, “be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. Have Dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
So right, in the beginning, we see that mankind (male and female together) were given a significant task. This shows us that we all have a part to play! We have a desire to be fruitful in life; we all want to increase and we are wired to take dominion; to rule and to reign. It's written into our original design; it's in our DNA! We are all called to live a life of significance!
John 31:6 shows us that every single person is significant because Jesus came on a significant mission to save every single person! No one is excluded from salvation; it says “whosoever believes in him should not perish” and that means that every single person is important to him! Now we all know that the verse in Jeremiah 29:11-13 it says, “so I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and go and pray to me and I will listen to you and you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” God's desire and plan for you is a prosperous future filled with hope. God is a good God and he only desires good things for you. He wants you to succeed in life! He wants you to enjoy your life! He wants you to have a satisfying life! But we need to realize that this is different that how the world would see it. When we talk about success we're not talking about it by the world’s standards of fame and fortune. We're going to define success at a later stage, but right now I just want you to see that God’s purpose for you is fruitfulness! God has called you to fruitfulness! His desire for you is fruitfulness! If you look at John 10:10 it says “a thief only has one thing in mind: he wants to steal, to slaughter and destroy. Well, I've come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect, life in its fullness until you overflow!” Your God desires so much more for you than what you are experiencing right now! He never intended for your life to be mediocre, mundane and boring. Life should be exciting because as believers we've got an exciting calling from the Lord!
Psalm 91:16 says, “You will be satisfied with a full life and with all that I do for you. For you will enjoy the fullness of my salvation!” God's desire for us is that we live a satisfying life! If you're not satisfied with your life then you're not living in God's best for you. If you're not satisfied with your life it's also not your time to die, yet! This verse is showing us that at the end of our lives God wants us to be satisfied when we look back on everything that's happened. There's nothing more satisfying than living in God's perfect will, but you can only live in his perfect will when you know what it is and when you know what you were created for. God wants you to succeed! He wants abundance for you! He wants you to experience more than what you are experiencing right now! And I want to encourage you that it doesn't matter how bad things are right now, and it doesn't matter if you have made bad decisions which are taking you down a wrong path – God can redeem your situation and put you back on track! You may have met bad business decisions or bad life decisions and things are just really pressured at the moment. Maybe you don't feel like life is worth living?
Life is always worth living but you only have one shot at it! The only way to live a successful and satisfying life is to know what you were put on this earth to do. You need to discover your purpose and walk in it.
