REIGN IN LIFE THROUGH HIS GREAT LOVE

24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is (represents) My body, which is [offered as a sacrifice] for you. Do this in [affectionate] remembrance of Me.” 25In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in [affectionate] remembrance of Me.” 26For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are [symbolically] proclaiming [the fact of] the Lord’s death until He comes [again].”
1 Corinthians 11:24-26 Amplified Bible (AMP)

The power of communion is in remembering Jesus and what He did. I like how the Amplified Bible puts it: affectionate remembrance of Jesus. This means it shouldn’t just be some mental exercise of replaying scenes from the movie The Passion of The Christ in your mind, and chewing the bread, then downing the cup. It should be remembrance that moves your heart and emotions to remembering Jesus in a loving, fond, adoring, devoted, caring, and tender way. Partaking in communion should move you emotionally because you’re overwhelmed by Jesus’ amazing love for you which is without condition, and so extreme, that it caused Him to do what He did, for you.

4But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us”
Ephesians 2:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Communion isn’t about feeling sorry for Jesus. It’s about remembering that what He did, He did because of His great love for you. It’s about remembering that in and through your relationship with Him, and because of His love for you, you can live a victorious life.

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”
1 Corinthians 11:26 New King James Version (NKJV)

Every time you partake of communion you are proclaiming Jesus’ death! You’re proclaiming what He accomplished through His death for you! You’re proclaiming that Jesus is alive and that His victory is your victory! You’re proclaiming His great love for you and that through His great love for you, you are more than a conqueror!

37Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].”
Romans 8:37 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Thought to focus on for the day:

Jesus loves me! His love for me is so extreme that He gave His life and died for me, but He also rose from the dead and is alive! His victory is my victory! I reign in life through the risen Christ!
