John 16:33 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
“I have told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world, you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”
This world that we live in is troubled, therefore you’re going to have troubles at some point or another but no matter what the circumstances are like in this life, you do not have to be troubled. You can live a troubled-free life even when you have troubles in your life. We need to learn how to deal with the pressures of life correctly otherwise they’re going to deal with us and lead to stress, anxiety, worry and fear, which will lead to physical illness and other problems. Nobody wants to get physically ill and yet a lot of people are carrying stress and worry and fear, and they aren’t dealing with them properly, and so they get sick. Many medical doctors will tell you that a lot of sicknesses are related to stress. We need to learn to deal with the stresses of life so that stress will not deal with us!
Stress, worry and fear are giants that stand between you and you living out your destiny. If the enemy can get you to live in constant stress or fear or worry, then he can prevent you from stepping into your destiny because as long as you’re focused on stress and worry, you don’t have the capacity nor do you have the energy, to run your race with patience and perseverance. You will not be effective in fulfilling your calling as long as you’re tolerating stress, worry, anxiety or fear in your life. All of these are really just strategies of the enemy to hold you back from living the life that God’s called you to live.
We need to learn how to deal with the pressures of life so that we can live a life of perfect peace. Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble, which means that you are not going to have a trouble-free life but the good news is that those troubles do not have to trouble you; you can live a troubled-free life! The troubles that you’re experiencing don’t have to trouble you.
Matthew 11:28 New King James Version (NKJV)
Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
This is a beautiful invitation from Jesus; God does not want us to live a burdened life! He invites us to come to Him and give our worries and cares to Him. God didn’t design us to deal with stress and burdens by ourselves. We weren’t created to carry our burdens – that’s Jesus’ job! The Bible tells us to cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us – it’s His job to carry our burdens and when we carry them we are robbing from Jesus the opportunity to do His job (1 Peter 5:7). If you are trying to deal with your problems by yourself, you’re not a humble person. True humility recognizes that it’s Jesus’ job to carry my problems and burdens; it’s not my job. Casting your cares on Him will enable you to live a stress-free life because you’re trusting Him. Learning to live a stress-free life is about learning to trust God.
