Faith is the answer to your problem! If you want to be able to live like Jesus and do the same works that Jesus did and even greater works then you’ll have to live by faith. Now, don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you have to get faith because you have all the faith you’ll ever need!
Romans 10:17 New King James Version (NKJV)
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
In context, “word of God” is referring to the gospel, and some translations will even translate it as “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the gospel.” Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the gospel – the good news of what Jesus has done for us and freely offers us. As somebody hears the gospel, faith rises in their heart and if they release that faith they get born-again! Then, they have faith! There are a number of scriptures to verify this:
Romans 12:3 King James Version (KJV)
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
God didn’t give you a little bit of faith and somebody else a big load of faith and another person a medium-sized measure of faith. God is not a respecter of persons. God knows that believers need faith to live and so he had given us all the measure of faith to be able to live like he like Jesus.
Galatians 2:20 King James Version (KJV)
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
If Christ lives in you then let’s say this: Jesus has perfect faith, and so perfect faith lives in you. You have all the faith you need to live like Jesus and do the same works that He did and even greater ones! Now, think about a bank for a moment. Would you rather have wealth or money in that bank or would you rather have money or wealth of that back? If you have money in the bank it means you put money in the bank and there’s a portion of that bank’s money which belongs to you, but if you have the wealth and money of the bank it means that everything that’s in that bank belongs to you. You have the faith of Jesus which means that you’ve got Jesus’ faith in you. God doesn’t expect you to live like Jesus without equipping you to be able to do it. Jesus didn’t say you will be able to do the same works as he did and even greater works if you try really hard and if you really just beg God for faith and if you beg him here for your faith to increase. There are many churches singing songs and crying out to God in prayer begging God for more faith, but you cannot get more faith than you’ve already got! As a believer, you have all the faith you’ll ever need, but you need to realize that faith is not automatic. This might be one of the reasons why you’re not seeing a supernatural life. It may be because you don’t know how to activate your faith but let me encourage you that it comes down to “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the gospel.” So just keep hearing the Gospel and allowing it to strengthen your faith!
Faith is easy. True faith is effortless. You are full of faith! The problem is that many of us are too carnal. I don’t know how else to say this. I’m not saying that we are just full of sin. I’m saying that we’re just too focused on things that counter our faith. If you’re listening to the news more than you’re listening to the word of God, it’s going to counter your faith. It’s going to dampen your faith and make your faith dormant. If you listen to what the doctor says more than what the word of God says… and I’m not saying don’t listen to the doctor, but when you’re sitting at the doctor and he or she says something bad, you can politely thank them and go home and you get into the word. Maybe the doctor spent 10 minutes telling you about how sick you are? Then you go and spend longer in the word! If the economy is just bad and you know there is a recession and people are getting laid off of work, choose not to focus on all that bad news and get into the word of God! Focus on the truth that God is your provider and that He will provide for you according to his riches in glory and not according to the world’s economy. You need to get to that place where you are so focused on the word of God, in your heart and mind, and giving it the proper focus in your life.
Smith Wigglesworth once said, “There are four principles we need to maintain: first, read the word of God. Second, consumed the word of God until it consumes you. Third, believe the word of God. And fourth, act on the word of God.” If we lived like this we would see ourselves living the normal Christian life – a life of supernatural life and power!
