A new start! A fresh beginning! It’s not merely a continuation of the old life along a better path, but it’s a completely new start. So many Christians still see themselves as they were before they received Jesus and think that now they are just trying harder along a better path. But that is not the case!

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
Romans 5:19 KJV

You were born a with a sinful nature because of your great-great-great-great….grandfather Adam. It was hereditary and unavoidable. This sinful nature is what caused you to sin and do wrong just like a dog’s nature is to bark and act like a dog your original nature was to sin. The good news is that by Jesus’ obedience we are able to be made righteous. Jesus was perfect and knew no sin and yet through His sacrifice He became sin for us so that we could be made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). Nothing we do can make us righteous (right with God). It is only through faith in Jesus and what He has done for us that we are made righteous (Romans 5:1).

Too many Christians see themselves as old creations (sinners) and not as God sees them (righteous, new creations)!

“When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 TLB

As a believer in Christ you have a completely new life! You are no longer a sinner. That sinful nature has died and you are now a new creation with a righteous nature. You are not a sinner saved by grace! Stop seeing yourself as broken and dirty trying to be good! You were a sinner but you got saved by grace, and now you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!
