Come to Jesus

Jesus said that in this world you will have trouble but he also said that we can take heart and have courage because He has overcome the world. It may not be encouraging news that you’re going to have trouble in this world but the good news is that you don’t have to allow yourself to be troubled by the circumstances. God wants you to live a stress-free life but that doesn’t mean that you are not going to have opportunities to stress. You will have things coming against you at some point or another but you don’t have to allow the circumstances to stress you out!

Isaiah 26:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

Peace is a natural byproduct (the result) of keeping your mind focused and fixed on God and His promises. As Christians, we don’t have to be troubled at the things the world is troubled with. We’re going to have some troubles in this life but if we focus our minds and hearts on Jesus and His promises we will experience peace in spite of the circumstances.

Matthew 11:28 New King James Version (NKJV)
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

You can live a life of peace and rest by coming to Jesus. Rather than come to Jesus many people try to obtain peace through yoga or pills or even from Holidays and extramural activities and hobbies – any peace obtained from anything other than Jesus will only ever be momentary. Perfect peace cannot be obtained from trying to control your circumstances or environment – you’ll be miserable trying to control every circumstance in your life! Your security isn’t going to come from your circumstances because circumstances are subject to change. True security comes from God because He is not subject to change; He is faithful and can be trusted no matter what.

If you’re always wishing for another because you need a break, you’re either not doing what you were created to do, or you have the wrong perspective, focus and attitude in what you’re doing. You may not be dealing with the pressures of life correctly. We should be living balanced lives where holidays are great but they aren’t life-lines for us. If you need holidays to prevent yourself from burning out then you aren’t living a balanced life. Eventually, your holiday will come to an end and you’ll have to go back to reality, and soon enough you’ll need another holiday! The pressures of life don’t go away; we have to learn how to deal with the pressures of life. And it all comes down to coming to Jesus and trusting in God. When you’re fixing your attention on God and you’re trusting in Him, you’ll start living a life of perfect peace.
