“I will that you be healed” -Jesus

“I will that you be healed” -Jesus

(#WarOnSickness Healing Devotional – Day four)

Acts 10:38 KJV
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

Jesus went about healing all who were oppressed of the devil – not oppressed of God. God is not the one inflicting sickness on us or even allowing the devil to put sickness on us. Sadly, there are many Christians who mistakenly believe that He is! Sickness is a work of the devil, never of God! God doesn’t want you to suffer.

“…Jesus… who went about doing good, and healing all…”. Healing is a good thing. Jesus went about doing good – healing people. If healing is good, then sickness must be bad. It’s common sense, really. I haven’t met a doctor who believes that sickness can be a good thing. I don’t know any unbeliever that accepts sickness as something good either. Only a religious person who isn’t convinced of God’s goodness would be so ignorant to believe that sickness is good.  People spend a lot of money trying to get healthy and stay healthy. People will follow strict diets and do almost anything their doctor will advise them. It’s built into us to resist sickness because deep down, we know it is not a good thing. The Bible shows us that sickness is a work of the devil, never of God.

John 10:10 AMP
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

Sickness is destructive and robs us of life, finances, peace, joy, purposefulness, and so much more. God isn’t the one causing sickness or using it to work some great thing in our lives. No. The enemy, satan, comes to kill, steal and destroy. And one of his tools is sickness. Jesus came to give us life and life in abundance, not only in the afterlife but also in the here-and-now.

James 4:7 KJV
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

If sickness was from God, we shouldn’t be resisting it. Taking medicine is resisting sickness, and so if sickness were from God and we were to take medicine, we would technically be resisting God. If you believe that God has allowed your illness for some reason, then you ought to refuse any medicine and you ought to allow the sickness to run its full course so you can get the full benefit from the experience. But sickness is not from God – and therefore we must resist it.

To “resist” means to “actively fight against”. We should be actively fighting against sickness because it is a work of the devil. It is not intended to bless us, but to destroy us.

God created the world perfect: without sin, heartache, pain or sickness. It was Adam and Eve who through their disobedience allowed these negative things into life. But God made a way through Jesus to restore innocence, purity and health to us; to rescue us from the perishing and destruction that was a result of Adam and Eve’s disobedience.

John 3:16-17 KJV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved”

God sent Jesus out of His great love for us, because He doesn’t want mankind to perish. Jesus didn’t come to show us how wrong we are, or how to clean up our act, or to make us feel very sorry for all our sin. Jesus came to save (or rescue) the world from perishing and destruction. Yes, this is referring to eternal perishing and destruction, but it’s not exclusively eternal – it includes rescuing from perishing in this life as well!

In John 3:17, the word “saved” can also be translated as “healed, delivered, prospered, made whole or well.” In other words, Jesus came not to “condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved (or healed).” This describes what Jesus came to give us: not just forgiveness of sins and access to heaven, but also healing for our physical bodies (among other things).

God’s will for you is healing and health! Jesus came to save you from perishing by sickness! You do not have to waste away through sickness or disease: through Jesus’ sacrifice He has provided healing for you!

Matthew 8:2-3 KJV
“And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

You do not need to ask God if it is His will for you to be healed and whole. Through Jesus’ stripes, death and resurrection, God has declared and keeps declaring His will for you: healing and wholeness. Now, it’s your turn to declare God’s will over your life: that He wants you healthy and whole! Hear Jesus saying to you right now: “I will that you be healed and whole – right now.”

SAY IT OUT LOUD: God never wants me to perish with sickness or disease. Jesus came to rescue me from perishing and provide a way for me to be healed, whole and well!  Sickness is a work of the devil and it is destructive. God never uses sickness to achieve His will. It is a work of the devil. I resist sickness, pain and disease in my body and command you to leave now, in Jesus’ Name! I command my body to recover and be made strong now! Thank You Father that your will for me is healing and wholeness!
